I wasn’t sure if this was the right time for this article. But after the left’s reporting and antics over the last couple of weeks about all that is supposedly wrong, I think we deserve a little reality. Liberals have proudly announced this last years economic growth is due to the Obama administration, and I think they are right, but not for the reasons they claim.

Another tragedy occurred yesterday, on Valentine’s Day, in Florida. First my prayers and condolences go out to those effected including school personnel, children, their parents, families, and neighbors. And I also include the shooter and his family. They need our prayers as well. We may never understand why this shooting happened, but in some ways understanding why it happened doesn’t really matter. It was an act of hate - evil.

We hear today there is a new truth to follow, and we must become enlightened to do it. We must discover who we are to transform ourselves. Unfortunately, this new knowledge is often a lie, a deception designed to ensnare each of us. A lie because it is based on who we think we are; relying on our own devices to determine our character. It’s all about us.

My heart goes out to those at the recent Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting. My prayers are with you, your families, the first responders, and medical personnel who assisted those who were wounded. It was truly a calamity, but as we’ll see in a bit there were also some very hopeful moments in the midst of the tragedy.

This final article continues discussions from last time considering why God must be good. To go further, someone good must be just, as justice is the virtue of giving each their due. The worker earns their wages and should be paid what they have earned. It is morally right. Doing the moral thing is good. Therefore a moral being must give someone what they have earned. As God is not only good, but the source of good, He must also be morality’s source.

This series ends by going back to the beginning, why these articles were written in the first place. First, the present inter-faith discussions do not promote open dialogue. The outcome is determined by its participants before an event begins. Second, Islam’s supporters use these events to paint a false picture of Islam and thereby promote division among the uninformed within Richmond’s Jewish and Christian communities. Third, as just alluded to, many Christian’s understanding of their own faith today is so thin they do not understand the differences between Christianity and Islam—let alone why they matter.

We recently examined one false argument advanced by liberals in regards to refugee resettlement. Their position was put forward through several religious organizations and voiced a deceptive corruption of basic church teachings. Their argument focused simply on man’s nature alone and not on the ideas one holds. Both matter as both define who we are. Otherwise religious tenets, or principles of any kind, simply would not matter. A world without principles leads to anarchy.

With the FBI’s announcement two weeks ago about Ms. Clinton’s handling of classified emails, we quite clearly have at least two sets of laws within our country.  One for the well-connected, and another for the rest of us.  This is something that should not happen as one of our founding principles is equality under the law.  This notion is based upon Biblical principles.  First, that the laws are to apply equally to all within society.  There are no exceptions.  This is confirmed from some of the earliest books of the Bible.  Within Exodus 20-24, the Ten Commandments and other ordinances were agreed to by the people.  There were no exceptions.

Sunday of last week in Orlando, a follower of Islam, Omar Mateen, went into a night club and began killing other human beings.  A senseless and cowardly act by Western standards, but ISIS has embraced him as a heroic fighter for the Islamic State.  Why?

Of course our country has been the land of the free.  And that freedom has been bought because some have been willing to pay the ultimate price so that the rest have the opportunity to live in peace.   These few have lived out Christ’s words.  ‘This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.  You are My friends if you do what I command you.  No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.’ (John 15:12-15)  While those who serve often go to protect their families, those they know, they also go because of a sense of duty.  They knowingly go to protect those they do not even know.  It is the ultimate sacrifice, and an example of the greatest type of love/charity that demands our honor and respect.  God is surely pleased by their actions, as he is saddened by the need for their sacrifice - because some choose not to live in accordance to His commands.  Thank you to all who have served and all who are serving.

About Dan Wolf

Dan WolfMy goal is that my writing will help you to get started on your own journey of discovery, or help you along the way on a journey you may have already begun. Our Founders considered education, religion, morality, and virtue to be the cornerstones for any successful society. Being successful requires understanding both the languages of reason and faith; reason alone is insufficient.
